I want to tell you a story about my client Lou Gordon and how we turned a great idea into a real, repeatable video series that actually sounds and feels like him.
Lou and I connect regularly on strategy calls, and during one of those conversations he came to me with a concept for a new series. He wanted to call it "Lemme 'Splain You Somethin'." From the moment he described it, I could see why. It matched his personality, his sense of humor, and the way he naturally communicates with his audience.
The opportunity wasn't to change the idea. It was to figure out how to execute it in a way that would actually work.
His biggest obstacle was...
Lou had a clear vision but no defined structure to build from. And with a concept this specific, getting the execution wrong would have been easy. Without a clear format, consistent opening, and creative direction, the series could have felt scattered or just not landed the way he intended.
You can't map that out over a few messages or small tweaks between calls. It needed real dedicated time and collaboration to get right.
My solution to the obstacle was...
We scheduled what we called our "writer's room." A full strategy session dedicated entirely to building the series out together from scratch.
We slowed the process down and got intentional about every piece. Here is what we worked through together:
First, we mapped out how Lou would open each video so it felt consistent and immediately recognizable to his audience. Then we worked through the overall structure and pacing to make sure the content was clear, engaging, and easy to follow. We pulled creative inspiration from Seth Meyers to help define the tone and style of the series.
From there, we introduced the idea of incorporating characters. Lou ran with that in the best possible way, bringing his kitten into the videos, which added a layer of personality that his audience genuinely responded to. We also landed on an interview-style format that let him deliver real information while keeping everything dynamic and entertaining.
By the end of that session we had a full layout, a clear vision, and a structure we both felt confident moving forward with.
The Outcome for My Client Was…
Once we started filming, everything clicked.
The videos came out engaging, fun, and most importantly true to Lou. The format gave the series consistency without making it feel rigid. The characters added warmth. And the content delivered real value without losing the personality that makes Lou worth watching.
He has been getting great feedback, especially when he sends the videos out as postcards to his database. They are not just being watched. They are sparking conversations and keeping him top of mind in a way that feels natural, not forced.
And because we built a clear structure upfront, creating new episodes has been straightforward. The hard work of figuring it out is already done.
Here's a look at the series...
What Lou says about working with me...
"Hailey is collaborative, open to ideas, and always willing to hop on a call to talk things through and bring a vision to life. We're not just creating content. We're creating something that actually feels like me."
