I had a lengthy call with a friend in the real estate business yesterday.
“What’s the first thing I should do to drum up some new business, Frank. Money and time are tight. What’s your recommendation?”
“Send a reconnect email to your database,” I replied. “I can get it done in about an hour”.
This is where we start all new Vyral clients, and it’s incredibly fast, effective, and inexpensive.
It lays the foundation for continued communication and lets everyone know you’re still in the business, available to help without coming across as a pest.
You first export all the contacts out of your CRM (less the bounces and unsubscribes).
And then you export all the contacts out of your cell phone and Gmail/Outlook/etc.
Once you have those lists exported - which likely include a quick and dirty list of many of your past clients, sphere, and lead nurtures - you’ll want to run them through an email cleaning service like NeverBounce.com.
That will make sure 99 percent or more are deliverable.
And then it’s all about writing a tactful, helpful, humble reconnect email message. We find that a longer one, rather than a shorter one, outperforms.
Here’s a real example.
You’ll get a lot of unsubscribes (which is a good thing), a few people unhappy (just hug them), and then more times than not a “Oh I’m so glad I heard from you, let’s talk” response.
Those are the best.
If you run a brokerage or team, this is one of the first things I suggest you help your agents do when they come on board with you.
My friend Nick Krautter, who wrote the book The Golden Handoff, says you should do this with other tired agents' databases in return for a referral fee.
Pro Tip: Use a professional, more expensive email marketing account like MyEmma (what we use) to make sure your emails are deliverable. Be sure to set up DKIM, SPF and Google Postmaster to maintain an eye on delivery quality. You can Google all those things.
So I just want to ask….when was the last time you sent out a nice reconnect message with tact to everyone you’ve talked to in your life to let them know you’re still there to help them?
It’s time. And if you need help with it, we’re here.
Have a great week.
Frank
